"i am gun!
To have an encounter with Gun Gordillo is to go on a journey of discovery. She is a person who is constantly on the move and always has something new to narrate. But the memories of the past are just as vital as the present, and when she spills the stories, you are almost overwhelmed by the breadth of the experiences and events she has lived through. ‘Do you have a gun?’, ‘No, I am Gun!’, was the answer she gave to the border guards asking her and Freddy if they had weapons on them during their travels in South Yemen in the 1970s.”
Extract from the foreword by Josefin.

We had the honour of working with Gun on this monograph that is the first book to capture Gun’s work and life in its entirety. From her first encounter with the neon lights in Egypt, the important years in Paris, the Swedish-Danish roots and to her lifelong collaboration with her partner Freddy Fraek.
Accompanied by the contributing authors’ texts, giving perspective on Gun’s work both poetically and academically, the form and structure of the book is also a chronological arrangement of her work – the architectural integrations and the exhibitions – intervened by sections of her ‘single work’.
However the book is also a journey through light, transparency, and development over time.

The book was published in August 2025 by Arvinius+Orfeus Publishing.
