The Institute of Interconnected Realities (I—IR) is influenced by the eco-inspired concept of Decentralized Choreography. The implication of this term is that the choreographic event unfolds across multiple sites simultaneously, with no single location holding more importance than the others. Decentralized Choreography is not only a concept that informs choreographic thinking about performative space but, within the framework of the I—IR, it has also reshaped approaches to dramaturgy, production, spectatorship, curation, and more. The institute develops research projects and artworks—spanning various scales and media—that explore the potential of choreographic thinking. The I—IR itself is approached as a choreographic event in its own right.
